RMSEL VolunteersTop of Page
For the safety of our students and staff, all RMSEL volunteers who will have any direct contact with students must first be cleared by a fingerprinted background check through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In addition, many of our parents choose to become bus driver certified at RMSEL for chaperoning on our fieldwork and adventure trips. There are additional steps one must follow in order to be bus driver certified, after background clearance has been obtained, beginning with providing a copy of your Colorado driver’s license. Our liability insurance requires that we obtain a Department of Motor Vehicles driving record on any potential bus driver first, in order to confirm that our insurance will cover the driver.

This is the only way to get background clearance for volunteering. It also includes the steps, after getting background clearance, for getting bus driver certification.
