RMSEL athletics extend our commitment to learning, teamwork, character, and Crew.
Fall 2026 Teams
Fall athletics are open to students in grades 5–8. Fifth-grade students may participate. Playing time and team placement may depend on team size and competitive needs.

Schedule and Eligibility
Middle school practices are held after school, generally on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:20–4:30 p.m. Exact practice days vary by team.
Games are held on weekdays and generally begin between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. Tournament play follows the regular season. Registered families receive schedule changes and transportation details directly from the Athletic Department.
Student-athletes must meet RMSEL academic and behavior expectations to participate.

Registration and Payment
Families with registered middle school athletes must submit the $250 participation fee by Friday, August 28, 2026. Checks should be payable to RMSEL. Cash and check payments may be submitted to the RMSEL front office. A completed athletics packet must be on file before a student may participate.
Co-ed Mountain Biking
RMSEL’s Mountain Bike Team is open to students in grades 7–12.

Tuesday academic support takes priority when required. Students in grades 7–8 may participate in team practices and the middle-school race but may not participate in high-school races.
Fees paid to RMSEL are $316 for grades 7–8, $411 for grades 9–12, and $251 for outgoing seniors. Checks should be payable to RMSEL with “MB Team” in the memo. Optional race-registration fees are paid separately by families.

The Knight School offers a fun, action-packed chess experience for students at every skill level. Weekly sessions use games, strategy, competition, and team-based activities to help students develop chess skills, critical thinking, sportsmanship, confidence, and a lasting enthusiasm for the game.
Program dates: August 24, 2026–May 10, 2027; no class when RMSEL is closed.

RMSEL Rocks – After School Rock Band Enrichment (Grades 7–12)
Program Overview
RMSEL Rocks is an after-school enrichment program designed for students in grades 7–12 who already demonstrate foundational skills on a rock band instrument or in live audio production. Students should have prior experience playing electric guitar, electric bass, keyboard/piano, drums, vocals, or an interest and basic knowledge of live audio and sound engineering.
Rather than focusing on individual instruction, this program emphasizes what it takes to perform as a cohesive band. Students will develop musicianship, communication, collaboration, and stage presence while learning how to rehearse effectively, arrange songs, and perform together as a professional ensemble.
Throughout the program, students will:
• Build ensemble performance skills through weekly rehearsals.
• Learn the roles and responsibilities of each band member.
• Improve timing, dynamics, improvisation, and musical communication.
• Explore songwriting, arranging, and performance techniques.
• Gain confidence performing in front of an audience.
• Develop leadership, teamwork, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Build ensemble performance skills through weekly rehearsals.
• Learn the roles and responsibilities of each band member.
• Improve timing, dynamics, improvisation, and musical communication.
• Explore songwriting, arranging, and performance techniques.

The program culminates in a live school performance, giving students the opportunity to showcase the music they have prepared for families, classmates, and the school community.
Students interested in audio production will receive hands-on experience with live sound reinforcement, stage setup, microphones, mixing consoles, speakers, and basic audio/video production. In addition to supporting Rock Band performances, these students will provide technical assistance for various school events throughout the year, helping with assemblies, concerts, presentations, and other programs requiring audio or video support.

Students K-8 can join The Lego Club where a relaxing, supportive and creative environment will be provided. Lots of different types of Lego will be available for students to use.

Students will develop percussion skills and make music together with a Swallow Hill Music teaching artist. The class is designed to build rhythm, musicianship, listening, and collaboration in a welcoming group setting. Instruments are provided.

The Marble Collective is a crew of young coders, creators, and big thinkers who are learning to code, cracking open the world of tech, and leveling up skills that real developers use every day.
And here's the coolest part: Collective members are official testers of the Marble app. That means YOUR ideas, YOUR feedback, and YOUR imagination go straight to the team building it. Find a bug? Dream up a feature? You could see your fingerprints on a real app used by real people. How many kids can say that?
No experience needed! Just bring your curiosity and get ready to build something awesome.

Students will build confidence, coordination, creativity, and perseverance through circus arts. Activities may include juggling, balancing, hula hoops, object manipulation, and other age-appropriate circus skills in an encouraging environment.
