Description
The Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) is an administrative body created in the Intergovernmental Agreement among the threemdistricts that sponsor RMSEL (Aurora, Denver, and Littleton).
Membership
The BOCES is made up of one representative from each sponsoring district who is a current member of the respective school boards and one representative from either the Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) or the Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS).
Function
The BOCES operates in much the same role as a school district board of education does. It has the legal authority to:
*employ personnel,
*contract for services, and
*accept and dispense funds.
It helps to ensure that RMSEL
*meets state and district standards,
*fulfills legal obligations and requirements,
*develops a program that is consistent with
Expeditionary Learning Design Principles.
